在厦门大学，“会计学”字样最早可见于1925年10月3日《厦大周刊》第121期：“商学系副教授郑世察，浙江宁波人，初毕业于沪江大学商科，得学士。民国十年渡美，在芝加哥、哥伦比亚及纽约各大学研究。凡二年有半，得硕士学位，旋回国，农商部特任为会计师。同年冬，在上海丰美银行任职。翌年，应南方大学之聘，充会计学教授。本年上季，任上海中华民国会计师公会评议员。现在本大学教授会计学，其得心应手，可预卜也”。随后，1925年10月24日第124期登出郑氏来函“查本人与校中所订关约担任商学经济学教授，今贵刊记为商学系副教授，想系传闻失实，特此来函便正”。郑世察先生应为厦门大学“会计学教授第一人”。
